Our History

Snedden Hall & Gallop was established by Norm Snedden, Allan Hall and John Gallop, in 1960. Their approach to legal practice was to provide pragmatic and at the same time, forward thinking legal advice, to meet the needs of a rapidly growing city. The same ethic has developed over the past 50+ years, so that we now one of the most progressive law firms in the Canberra region.

In the Beginning

In 1960 Norm Snedden and Allan Hall commenced their legal practice in small offices in East Row in Civic. They practised commercial and business law, handled land transactions, and represented associations in the various courts and tribunals in Canberra. In 1962, John Gallop joined the partnership, which then became known as Snedden Hall & Gallop.

Tradition of Excellence

The founding partners established a culture of hard work, camaraderie, and professionalism, which is the cornerstone of Snedden Hall & Gallop today.

Today, Richard Faulks, Dennis Martin, Bill Andrews, Gerald Santucci, and Tanya Herbertson, the current directors of Snedden Hall & Gallop, maintain the tradition of excellence established in those early days and lead a highly experienced team of professionals who provide practical and value-for-money legal solutions for people and organisations in the Canberra region. We are also very proud to say that many of the most successful and prominent practitioners of the law in the ACT have "cut their teeth" at Snedden Hall & Gallop.

50 years of change

Over 50 years the firm has grown and seen great change:

Community involvement

Through so much change, there has remained a strong and constant theme which was inculcated in the firm by Norm, Allan and John. That theme involved a commitment to Canberra and the surrounding area, a commitment to the basic principle of providing an excellent legal service to our associations while at the same time actively contributing to the ACT community. Today, Snedden Hall & Gallop remains committed to supporting the people, businesses and organisations that have supported us.
